Hi all! This is my first post, so here is my tiny introduction: My name is Jayme and I've been gardening for the last 3 years. Gardening has been a peaceful respite for me and I wanted to share that with others. I decided the best way to do this would be through a blog about my gardening journey. Please join me as I work on my day to day gardening plans and home cooked meals from my kitchen garden.
I decided last week to take stock of my seed collection. This was quite the daunting and necessary task. I already planned out when I wanted to plant things, but I needed to get a good idea of what I had to plant.
First, I used a basic pen and paper for my initial list. Then I transferred it over to a document I could add and modify. I've begun using Pages on my Mac and it seems like a friendly enough program. Once I made the list, I took a few extra steps to make the list a bit more adaptable for my growing seed collection.
I added some lines underneath each category so it could expand.
I include a notes section next to each category. In these spaces I can include growing comments and any issue I ran into along the way.
I added boxes that represent each raised bed I will be using. This will help me plot out the home of each seed. It also helps ensure that I don't plant things that will obstruct the path of sunlight to another plant.
I will attach my document (for ideas) and a template document (for you!) so that you can start planning out your plots this spring.
Please let me know what you think - and - if you have any tips on preparing your spring garden.
